WITH YOUR STUDENT either fill out the attached page or create your own, just make sure to answer all of the questions attached. Doing these types of activities together makes those connections between our school family and your home family. Helpful Reminders:
Literacy Update: We are continuing to build the connections in our school family by noticing acts of Kindness, just check out our Kindness flowers from today! In the writing center students are writing Kindness Tickets to school brothers and sisters to show appreciation for their kindness. We also introduced our WikiStix during the centers rotations. These are being used to develop fine motor skills and create sight words! Look below at everyone using them! Math Update: In math this week the Scientist are going to complete their Pre-Test while the Artists work on filling out a 100's chart and working with 10 Frames. Conscience Discipline: This week is focused on how to use our BIG Voice. This is when a student uses the language "I don't like it when you ____. Please ____." Where they give the other person a positive action. For instance "I don't like it when you bump into me. Please walk around." You can listen to the story here. Here are some pictures of the Helpful Forest in action! Wishing you well,

Literacy Update: Last week we started to build our school family, getting to know our school brothers and sisters. We read a lot of books about the start of school. Students also discussed what helps make them feel safe. Students wrote about what safe Looks, Feels, and Sounds like. Look for these at Open house! Math Update: Last week was focused on building school family. We started math this week with a Birthday Bar Graph! Conscience Discipline: Last week was all about safety and how to be a SafeKeeper. We opened up the Safe Place today and will continue to practice how to use it in a helpful way. The Safe Place is a school tool to help calm bodies and get brains ready to learn. Below are some pictures of The Helpful Forest in Action! Ms. Lindsey was our Mystery Reader last week. What a surprise! Wishing you well,
Ms. Claire & Ms. Jenny We made it through day two! Today we learned about how to be a STAR (Stop Take a deep breath And Relax). Each student was sprinkled with Star Power. The commitment today was "Today I will take a deep breath when I notice my feelings." Student were very successful! We saw multiple students breathing without being prompted. Way to go! Phoenix Folders: CHECK YOUR STUDENT'S BACKPACK. Every student has a BLUE folder with important information from the school. Please fill out all relevant "Return to School" papers no later than Monday. We encourage folders to be turned in Wednesday but understand that life is busy. Recess update: It has been decided that staying on the temperatures on rooftop playground get too high for classes to play on for more than 15 minutes. We are currently working on putting up the Shade Sails. In the mean time we are going to be playing outside for 15 minutes and spending the other 15 minutes inside doing GoNoodle (guided movement activities). PTA: Tuesday Lunch Order Forms will be going out in Phoenix Folders. Please take the time to review the Policies and Procedures regarding lunches. The deadline for orders is Wednesday, Aug 31 at 3 pm. Specials Schedule Monday - Music Tuesday - Gardening and Movement. Wednesday - Spanish. Thursday - Art. Friday - P.E. (sneakers needed) Below is our tentative schedule for academics. The focus for the first six to eight weeks of school is on building our School Family. The schedule below will slowly start to be implemented in the next six to eight weeks.
Here are pictures of students reading on the rug, decorating their SafeKeeper Stick, creating their STAR Wands, and participating in today's GoNoodle. Wishing you well,
